Interest in green property reported

There was a lot of interest in property-related environmental
issues at this week's Greenbuild Expo event in Manchester, it has
emerged.
According to Steve Oxley, deputy editor at sustain magazine, the
opening day on Wednesday was "very good and very busy", while many
of the attendees showed they were "very interested in
sustainability and environmental issues".
Exhibitors involved in the event, which was held at Manchester
Central, included the Centre for Alternative Technology and the
Northern Housing Consortium.
The occasion, which drew to a close today, comes after the director
of sustainable building group The Green Register said the recent
increase in green buildings has been too slow to "adequately deal
with the incredible challenges that climate change presents".
Lucy Pedler said the growth of environmentally-friendly properties
in the UK needs to be "much faster" and existing building stock
must be "radically altered to adapt to climate change".
