NLA reflects on new property report

The National Landlords Association's (NLA) spokesperson Steven
Hilton has responded to a new report on the buy-to-let property
market.
We All Live in a Robbie Fowler House, which was produced by the
University of Nottingham's School of Geography, suggested that
buy-to-let has become a vital part of the UK's economy and it also
gave an indication of what is needed to be a landlord.
Mr Hilton said: "It comes as no surprise to the NLA that the report
suggests landlords must have "local knowledge and active
management" in order for their lettings business to prosper."
Indeed, the spokesperson indicated that the fundamentals of the
sector are currently strong, but the biggest problem for would-be
landlords is finding the finance to take out a mortgage.
He also stated that this is something affecting both experienced
and new landlords alike.
The Nottingham report, which used the name of footballer Fowler,
who is renowned for his large property portfolio, said that
experienced investors were trying to take advantage of low house
prices by increasing their property portfolios.
