Smallholders & Poultry Market

Rendells' Market for Smallholders, held every other Saturday morning at Newton Abbot, has grown considerably over the last few years with regular entries of over 500 birds every sale.

The sale is now regarded as one of the largest regular sales of its kind in the South West with vendors and purchasers travelling from Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset and, on occasions, East Sussex and Wales.

Types of poultry and animals sold at the market include pullets, hens, hens and chicks, ducks, ornamental waterfowl, pheasants, quail, pigeons, doves, budgerigars, peacocks, guinea fowl, geese, turkeys, rabbits, ferrets and lots of hatching eggs.

The Poultry and Smallholders sales all start at 10:30am with poultry arriving for lotting from 7:00am on sale days.

Grass Keep Straw and Fodder

Rendells conduct auctions of Grass, Fodder, and Straw, seasonally throughout the year with buyers and vendors throughout the South West and further a field. We also carry out a number of private treaty sales.

Auctions provide the best measure of market value, but having a flexible approach allows us to use public auction or private treaty sales, enabling us to provide the best service for our clients.

Horse Sales

Newton Abbot Livestock Auctioneers hold a regular Horse and Tack sale on special Saturday sales alongside their poultry sales. The sale regularly attracts entries of up to 60 horses and ponies and in excess of 500 lots of tack and saddlery. The sale of tack begins at 10:30 a.m with the sale of horses at 12 noon.

The market is situated in the heart of Newton Abbot and has good access and easy links to the whole of the South West with buyers and sellers regularly attending from Wales, the Midlands and the South West. The sales popularity has partly increased due to its location in the centre of the town with a good range of shops and amenities close by.
